Brasil se está preparando para unas elecciones importantes, pero el país se enfrenta a graves problemas de deuda. Más del 80 % de las familias tienen deudas por culpa de las tarjetas de crédito con tipos de interés muy altos.

Las nuevas apps para el móvil, los sistemas de pago instantáneo y las apuestas online hacen que sea más fácil pedir dinero prestado y meterse en problemas económicos. Muchas pequeñas empresas y agricultores tampoco pueden devolver sus préstamos bancarios. Al mismo tiempo, el Gobierno brasileño tiene una deuda enorme y gasta mucho dinero en pensiones y programas sociales para ayudar a los más desfavorecidos.

El presidente Lula quiere seguir gastando para apoyar a las familias, mientras que su principal rival, Flávio Bolsonaro, promete recortar el gasto público. Los economistas advierten de que estas enormes deudas podrían provocar que la economía del país se ralentice pronto.
