Unos documentos secretos muestran que unas empresas de Chipre le prepararon documentos falsos y con fechas retroactivas. Estos documentos le ayudaron a ocultar artículos de lujo por valor de más de 600 millones de dólares, como yates, aviones privados y casas de lujo. Los asesores también modificaron los registros bancarios para que Abramovich no tuviera que pagar millones en impuestos.
Hoy en día, Abramovich se enfrenta a duras sanciones en muchos países debido a su estrecha relación con el presidente ruso, Vladímir Putin. Ya no puede hacer negocios en Gran Bretaña, y sus enormes superyates están ahora amarrados en Turquía. Los expertos dicen que modificar los registros financieros oficiales para evadir impuestos es ilegal. Abramovich niega haber hecho nada malo y afirma que solo siguió los consejos de su equipo financiero.
