La empresa Meta ha aceptado pagar una cuantiosa indemnización de 18 000 millones de dólares (16 500 millones de euros) a 48 estados estadounidenses. Las autoridades de EE. UU. acusaron a Facebook e Instagram de perjudicar la salud de los niños.

Meta dijo que no había hecho nada malo, pero la empresa aceptó pagar esa cantidad a lo largo de diez años. Meta también introducirá nuevas normas de seguridad para los adolescentes en Facebook e Instagram. Los adolescentes tendrán un límite de uso diario de dos horas, y las apps se bloquearán por la noche y durante el horario escolar. Además, Meta ocultará el número de «me gusta» en las publicaciones para ayudar a los jóvenes a sentirse mejor.

Meta quiere que otras grandes empresas, como TikTok y YouTube, también sigan estas nuevas normas de seguridad para que Internet sea más seguro para todos los niños.
