David Hockney dies – nivel 2

El famoso artista británico David Hockney ha fallecido a los 88 años. Fue uno de los artistas más importantes de la época moderna y una gran figura del movimiento del pop art en los años 60.

A Hockney le gustaba que su arte transmitiera alegría, por eso siempre usaba colores muy vivos. Le encantaba probar nuevas tecnologías y creaba preciosas obras utilizando pintura tradicional, fotografías e incluso modernos iPads. Es especialmente conocido por sus increíbles cuadros de piscinas y paisajes soleados de California. En 2018, uno de sus cuadros de piscinas se vendió en una subasta por casi 70 millones de libras, lo que supuso un récord mundial para un artista en vida.

Hockney creció en una familia numerosa y corriente, pero trabajó muy duro todos los días de su vida. Siempre decía que la pintura le daba una razón para vivir, y trabajó hasta el final.
