Las casas son caras en Australia – nivel 2

Las viviendas son muy caras en Australia, por lo que muchos jóvenes no pueden comprarse su primera casa. Debido al alto coste de la vida, cada vez más generaciones deciden vivir juntas en una misma casa.

Entre 2016 y 2021, el número de familias que viven así aumentó un 22 %. Los abuelos echan una mano reformando sus casas o construyendo casitas en el jardín. Esta forma de vivir tiene muchas ventajas. Las familias ahorran dinero y los padres cuentan con ayuda extra para cuidar a los niños.

Para ayudar a más gente, los expertos del sector quieren que el Gobierno cambie la normativa de construcción. Quieren que sea más fácil para las familias construir pequeñas viviendas adicionales, llamadas «granny flats», en sus patios traseros.
