Nueva ley de la UE sobre la deforestación – nivel 2

La UE empezará a aplicar nuevas normas contra la deforestación el 30 de diciembre de 2026. Las empresas que vendan productos como el aceite de palma, el café y el chocolate tendrán que demostrar que no talan árboles para fabricarlos.

Pero algunas organizaciones ecologistas de Indonesia han descubierto que grandes marcas internacionales podrían estar incumpliendo estas normas. Empresas tan conocidas como PepsiCo y Unilever han comprado recientemente aceite de palma procedente de plantaciones vinculadas a la tala ilegal de bosques.

Algunos países, entre ellos EE. UU. e Indonesia, han pedido a la UE que suavice las normas para las empresas. Pero los activistas medioambientales dicen que Europa debe mantenerse firme y hacer cumplir la ley. Indonesia ha perdido muchos bosques a causa de la agricultura y los incendios, por lo que se necesitan controles estrictos para proteger la naturaleza y frenar la destrucción forestal a nivel mundial.
