Los islandeses dicen NO a la UE – nivel 2

Los islandeses votaron «No» en un referéndum sobre la UE. Decidieron no reanudar las negociaciones para entrar en la UE.

Alrededor del 52,5 % votó «No» y el 47,5 % votó «Sí». El primer ministro quería celebrar la votación antes debido a los problemas mundiales, pero el debate político se centró en temas locales. Muchos islandeses querían proteger su independencia nacional y sus aguas pesqueras.

Los expertos políticos dijeron que el bando del «No» llevó a cabo una campaña contundente centrada en la identidad y los sentimientos. El bando del «Sí» solo habló de detalles técnicos, por lo que no consiguió convencer a suficiente gente. Como resultado, Islandia seguirá fuera de la Unión Europea.
