Un nuevo proyecto en Austria está causando indignación porque están construyendo un polígono industrial en el lugar donde antes estaba un campo nazi.
Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, unas 400 mujeres estuvieron recluidas en el campo de Hirtenberg y las obligaron a trabajar en una fábrica. Hoy en día, los promotores inmobiliarios están construyendo un supermercado y grandes naves de almacenamiento en este terreno. Las autoridades afirman que no quedaban suficientes edificios antiguos para proteger legalmente el lugar, pero los historiadores y activistas se sienten tristes y enfadados. Creen que los lugares con una historia oscura deberían conservarse, en lugar de usarse para tiendas y negocios.
La empresa que construye el parque se ha ofrecido a financiar un pequeño monumento conmemorativo. Aun así, mucha gente piensa que construir sobre un campo de concentración supone olvidar a las víctimas y ocultar una parte importante de la historia.
